WillScot assembly bay with modules in a row
Since 2004

About WillScot and the module sheet we still publish

WillScot builds modular and portable buildings for buyers who want a named size before they want a rendering. The plant record used for planning in 2026 lists 466 people, 29 destination countries and 5,984 modules or equivalent area. Those figures are internal ranges, not a live census.

Plant timeline

  1. 2004

    Catalogue sizes replace one-off sketches

The company opened with a short list of external module sizes for site offices. Drawings carried lifting points and a foundation interface instead of a freehand plan.

  2. 2011

    Jigs for repeat linked rooms

Multi-module orders moved onto fixed jigs so the second unit could be checked against the initial unit. Diagonal difference became a recorded shop figure, later held near 4 mm on the WS-2436 check in March 2024.

  3. 2016

Rock wool beside the foam line

PIR stayed for heated rooms that needed a lower U-value at a given thickness. Rock wool was added where the fire strategy or the acoustic note asked for mineral fibre. EPS remained a cost line with a narrower fire discussion.

  4. 2019

    Packing desk split from sales

Volumetric decks and bolted knock-down packs stopped sharing one 40HQ number. The packing desk writes the method on the model sheet before a freight quote is copied forward.

  5. 2024

Scope letter separated from ISO marks

A one-page letter states that ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are management systems. They do not set a member size, a coating mass or a permit outcome.

How a sheet is allowed to leave the desk

Named limits

Wind, snow, seismic basis and storey count are either filled or marked open. An open cell is not treated as zero.

Split scope

Factory MEP stops at a marked coupling. Site packages such as medical gas, fire pumps and crane charts stay outside the module price.

Traceable steel

Cold-formed members carry a coating note, typically Z275 where the camp or coastal sheet asks for galvanizing. Weld zones and cut edges are called out for repair.

People who touch the sheet

Coordinator reviewing a packing sketch

Packing coordination

Matches the model to a volumetric flat-rack count or a knock-down 40HQ count. Does not invent a crane chart.

Envelope technician with panel cores

Envelope desk

Writes core, thickness and the difference between a panel test and a wall with doors. Refuses a single word in place of a minute rating.

Shop inspector at a module corner lug

Dimensional inspection

Checks length, width and diagonal on the initial unit, then samples the run. A passed jig does not waive the site level check.

Document controller with revision stamps

Revision control

Keeps the 2026-03 model data, the 2026-01 load form and the 2025-11 installation notes on separate revision lines.

Management certificates on file

EN 14509 may be cited when a metal-faced insulating panel is part of the wall discussion. It does not by itself approve the module, the openings or the local building permit. IBC, Eurocode 3 and NCC reviews stay with the project jurisdiction.

Ask for the current revision

If you need the model data sheet or the blank load form, use the quote path and name the revision you saw on this site.
